Online lesbian dating: be sure you’re talking to a woman!

March 18, 2008 – 2:56 pm

For whatever reason, it’s a fact that many straight men have a fascination with lesbians

And what’s more, some even go so far as to frequent lesbian chat rooms and fill out profiles on lesbian dating websites.

It seems that they will try almost anything to infiltrate the ranks and get close to the girls.

Why do they do it? Do they honestly think that they can woo a lesbian if they get close enough? Do they think that lesbians are a two for one deal, seduce one girl get two in the bargain?

Honestly, who knows what they are thinking? Only one thing is for sure: the online lesbian community is getting tired of finding men in women’s “virtual clothing” hovering about on their dating websites.

This is evident by the ever increasing number of sites that practically want you to send in female DNA before they will let you join their site. If they even suspect that you’re a man, you will get booted. But even though their efforts are not in vain, they are not 100% fool proof.

If you are a lesbian browsing lesbian dating sites, you are looking for one thing: another lesbian - and you don’t want to be harassed by men.

You don’t want to spend hours talking to someone only to find out that they will never, and I mean NEVER, be what you are looking for.

So how can you tell if you are talking with a woman and not a man pretending to be a woman? Follow these simple tips:

  • Pay special attention to wording and language used in profiles and in chat boxes. Women just have a different way of speaking than men. Usually you will be able to tell.
  • Never send sexy pictures to someone you don’t know. A favorite past time of many people online is to see how many pictures they can gather. You should also be skeptical of any pictures that you receive. If they seem too good to be true, they usually are. I mean, really. How hard is it to copy a picture from online and use it as your own?
  • If you have a webcam, use it. But only if they will turn theirs on at the same time. This is a great way to see who you are talking to.
  • Ask for their phone number and call them. If you like what you’ve seen so far, the next logical step is to talk on the phone.
  • When you decide to meet in person, consider doing so with a group of friends. Maybe you can meet in a lesbian club that you are familiar with? You bring your posse and let her bring hers. Remember; there’s safety in numbers.

Online lesbian dating is one of the best things that have happened to the female gay community, but there are still some that would spoil the fun for everyone.

As with anything you do online, you should be extremely careful. Make sure you are talking to who you think you are talking to and avoid divulging personal information prematurely.
